How Carnegie Diner added $543,000 in eight months.
Carnegie Diner & Café is a New York diner group with locations in Manhattan, Secaucus and northern Virginia, and more on the way. It was never short on customers. This is what three years of steady marketing did at its Secaucus diner, a restaurant that was already busy.

Same diner. Same eight months. One year apart.
- —About $451,000 a month in sales
- —Already a busy diner, open 7am to midnight, seven days
- —Meta and Google running, year two with Dineline
- —A full dining room, with no clear read on who the ads brought back
- →About $519,000 a month, $68,000 more than the year before
- →Every one of the eight months ahead of 2025
- →Custom audiences of past guests on Meta and Google, plus TikTok for younger diners
- →Same plan, year three. Nothing torn up and restarted
Carnegie has worked with Dineline since 2023, so there is no clean “before” year to show. Both columns are with Dineline. The $543,321 is the increase in the Secaucus location’s total sales over the same eight months the previous year. Revenue, not profit, covering everything the restaurant sold.
Plenty of traffic. Not enough aim.
Carnegie Diner & Café opened across the street from Carnegie Hall in 2019 and has been adding locations since: Secaucus in 2022, the Theater District, Vienna, Virginia in 2024, with Brooklyn, Tribeca and the Financial District in the works for 2026. The Secaucus store alone seats 199 and runs the same all-day menu from 7am to midnight, seven days a week.
A diner like that does not have an empty-room problem. It has a different one. When the dining room is already full of walk-ins and regulars, it is hard to tell which of them your marketing actually brought in, and harder still to make sure the people who came once come back.
By 2023 the owners wanted two things from a marketing partner: keep the campaigns running without the team having to babysit them, and get much better at reaching the guests who had already been in.
There was a second reason to want marketing that runs itself. A group that opens a new restaurant every year or so has its owners’ attention on the next lease, the next buildout and the next hiring push. The existing stores cannot wait their turn.
Dineline aimed the ads at people who had already eaten there, and kept them running for three years.
Dineline took over Meta and Google and kept both running month after month. The work that mattered most was audience work: building custom audiences of past guests on both platforms so the ads went to people who already knew the diner, then lookalike audiences to find more people like them.
In late 2024 the team added TikTok to reach a younger crowd that was not seeing the Meta and Google ads.
Then the plan stayed the plan. Carnegie did not switch strategies or restart from scratch each year. The audiences got better the longer they ran.
In New Jersey, Google search and Performance Max campaigns ran all eight months of 2026.
About $2,200 more, every day, in year three.
January through August 2026 brought in $4,151,000. The same eight months of 2025 brought in $3,607,679. That is $543,321 more, up 15.1%.
Spread across the calendar, it works out to roughly $68,000 more a month, or about $2,200 more for every day from January through August. On a diner already doing $450,000 a month, that is the kind of growth that does not come from one promotion or one good weekend.
Fifteen percent is a smaller headline than some of the stories on this site. It is also half a million dollars, on a restaurant that was not struggling to begin with. That is the point of staying with a plan instead of restarting one.
Measurement note: Revenue figures are Carnegie Diner & Café Secaucus location totals as reported by the restaurant in Dishio, comparing January–August 2025 with January–August 2026. Carnegie has been a Dineline client since 2023, so both periods include Dineline marketing.
Three years in, still growing.
Carnegie has kept the same plan with Dineline since 2023, through new openings and more on the way. In year three, the Secaucus diner is still adding more than $2,000 a day, on top of a dining room that was already full.
